Joy vs Happiness

Joy vs Happiness

As young man I always dreamed of things that could bring me more joy and happiness.

Life seemingly looked so good when I observe other people, while I only experienced heartaches and loneliness. I longed for things like a beautiful girlfriend, finishing my studies well, good job, fast motorcar, own house, and many more...

Because of unfulfilled expectations I even considered suicide during my 4th year at university.

Looking back on life, I can say that things only started to change after I accepted Christ as my personal Saviour and Lord.

Read my testimony, as well as other people’s life stories:

David contrasted JOY vs HAPPINESS in Psalm 4:7-8

Inward JOY Happiness Comes from knowing & trusting God Comes as a result of pleasant circumstances Steady as long as we trust God Unpredictable & can change overnight Defeats discouragement Covers up discouragement Lasting Temporary

Single & Lonely, but Fulfilled & Happy

During 1989, as young Campus Crusade for Christ staff member, among 5000 other missionaries, I was part of a major international outreach to reach the city of Manila (Capital of the Philippines, population 10 million), over a period of 3 months with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

One of the missionaries, a young local girl named Edna Likwong, worked with us in our area/Buranguy.

After all these years I was fortunate to get in contact with Edna only a week ago. In our correspondence, one of her comments were:

“...Anyway, I am still single until now but I'm happy that the Lord filled up the emptiness in my heart. That's how the Lord sustain my needs when it comes to desiring to have a partner.

I always believe what Psalm 37:4 says, ‘Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give the desire of your heart’.

The Lord is so good to me and my family Pieter...”

My Prayer For You

“Lord, I pray that the reader will be filled with inner joy & peace
through a personal relationship with You.
Sustain his/her needs as he/she delights in You, O Lord.
‘I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.’ Amen”
