  1. Our personal prayer for you

The previous week I’ve had a constant urge to uplift you in prayer before the Lord:

“Lord, it is my prayer that you will give the reader of this email the wisdom of understanding your promises according to Romans 1:31-39”

  • “If God is for us, who can be against us?
  • He who didn`t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things?

  • Who could bring a charge against God`s elect? It is God who justifies.

  • Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

  • Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

  • Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."

  • No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

  • For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

My prayer is that the Lord will bless you and everything dear to you:

  • “…That you will not be afraid, because He has redeemed you. He has summoned you by the name; you are His…” (Isaiah 43:1)

  1. Pieter in Kleinmond

You may wonder: “Is a missionary only praying, preaching and reading the Bible from dawn to dusk, with no appreciation for other things around him…?”

Kleinmond, where we live, is a nature paradise. Once or twice a week, after a day’s hard work, I get on my mountain bike and go exploring nature.

One Monday afternoon I took a new road that I’ve never used before. A kind of scary, lonely path, going high up and around a mountain. I peddled with severe intensity… sweat was dripping from my face... I didn’t notice the things around me because I was deep in thought.

The path was steep and narrow. The fynbos dense on both sides. Twice I fell. I didn’t realize how nature was unfolding around me. I battled up the road. Much higher up I came to a complete standstill because the road ended in an inaccessible cleave.

I looked up and around me. "Wow! This is heaven!" Rocky mountains with cliffs and sharp, weathered rocks…  A cold wind blowing on my face arms and legs…  Thousands of colourful, flowering fynbos…  Reeds, in full seed, moving to and fro in the wind…

Needless to say, I was completely overwhelmed with emotion. “God Almighty! Creator! Does the clay has any right questioning the potter?” (Isaiah 29:16; Romans 9:21)

I could only repeat the words over and over again: “God my Creator!”

Back in town, as I passed my house, I realized that there was still enough light to cycle another 350m to the rocky edge of the ocean. In front of me, the horizon of the sea was dark red. To the right the misty mountain was covered with a white cap.  It was already 8 o’clock and the sun was just about to set.  Again, I stood in awe: “God Almighty, You created this!”

  1. Sandwich for the Road:

Nineteen years ago, after being a Christian for almost fifteen years, I discovered a secret that changed my life in such a way that my attitude and cause for existence was never the same afterwards.

Let’s call it the secret of the Christian life“Spiritual Breathing!”

Spiritual Breathing is a phrase that you will not find in the Bible, but it is a biblical truth.

Spiritual Breathing is when a born again child of God acknowledge sin in his life, agrees that it is wrong, thanks Christ who paid the penalty in full, and turns away from it.

O yes, there is another small secret attached…, but why don’t we leave it for our next ‘NEWSFLASH’.
