kaaimansgat 01

It all started middle July 2008 with a snow hunt.

After being in KwaZulu Natal for 6 weeks, it was good to drive back home to Kleinmond (Western Cape).

I was filled with joy, not only to be going home, but also enjoying the beautiful surroundings as nature unfolds itself into an unbelievable landscape - no wonder it is called the Garden Route.

Fynbos all over...   rolling hills covered with a yellow carpet of canola flowers in full bloom...   mountain tops covered with a white blanket of snow...

For a person growing up in Gauteng for more than 54 years, this was a very special blessing.
Armed with cameras and tripod, Magdaleen and I went on a snow hunt the following day.

The road on the picture leads up over a high mountain pass which ends in a very special valley named Kaaimansgat.
