Jesus Christ makes a difference - Gives hope and purpose!

Without Jesus my life was empty and without depth.

The loneliness and impersonality of life in a hostel (Grade I till student years), my parent’s marriage problems, as well as being disappointed by people close to me, made me question the purpose of life. These were things that prevented me from trusting people and gave me a neutral outlook on life. At the age of 15, I started performing in athletics and I measured my happiness on that.

In 1978, as first year teaching student, one of the seniors shared with me about the importance of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Since day one I saw a quality, depth and inner peace in her life that was unknown to me. She was one of the top athletes and I really looked up to her. While she talked to me about Jesus, I realised that it is only He who can provide this inner peace and love. I longed for it…

She explained to me about ‘assurance of salvation’, and guided me in a short prayer where I invited Jesus to take control of my life and to make me the kind of person He wants me to be. After that, an exciting time of spiritual growth followed, where I got to know God and His Word, and increasingly experienced inner renewal and peace.

and so started the road of having Jesus as my personal saviour…

… a road where, as I look back, I many times see only one row of footprints
Desperate times of crisis where I was unable to proceed, but the inner strength I received from the Holy Spirit and God’s Word enabled me to carry on!

… a road where I got to know the Lord and, like Moses, am able to confess the following:
“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun (Beloved Israel), who rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’ Deuteronomy 33:2627

… a road where I learned to pray intensively for my children:
“My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you…“ Galatians 4:19

… a road where Pieter and myself are in fulltime ministry since 1987
Although I started unwillingly, I experienced spiritual growth and personal development. God uses me positively in the lives of other people.

1987 – 2007 = Campus Crusade for Christ

2007 – today = There is Hope Ministries “…for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” Philippians 2:13

… a road where, as marathon athlete, I successfully run and completed the gruelling 89km of the Comrades Marathon for 5 consecutive years (2004 - 2008). The Ultimate Human Race! - Run With God’s ultimate grace!

Together, but different according to each one’s unique talents and gifts, Pieter and myself spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We experience God’s blessings and provision on us as a family and on our ministry! As the Scripture says: “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame”. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved”. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:11-15

Since 2006 God started developing a new and exciting ministry before us at a speed that takes my breath away: THE INTERNET MINISTRY. Long enough the devil has been using the Internet for his evil purposes! We reach out to people who have so much pain, hurt… and who are desperate for help…praying for their needs, helping them to receive the Lord as their Saviour and to grow spiritually. People are contacting us from all over the world: Baghdad, London, Australia, Kenya, Nigeria, Canada, Saudi Arabia, etc. There are also hundreds of letters from all over South Africa.

What started as an admin job for Pieter became my passion and resulted in a most effective ministry in people’s lives!

The Lord is doing something much bigger than we could ever pray or think!! PRAISE, HONOUR AND GLORY TO THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!!

God willing, I am going to walk this road of full-time ministry till the day that I cross over and be with the Lord for all eternity. It is not an easy road – many times we are experiencing the full onslaught of Satan’s attacks. However, I do it in total dependence on God Almighty!!

We only take the initiative,
to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
in the power of the Holy Spirit
and trust God for the results!
