How wonderful it is to look back on that one special day when our family stepped out in obedience to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ — right there in a humble rural settlement in Gauteng.
With faith in our hearts and determination in our hands, we set up the JESUS FILM equipment in front of my Venture vehicle: a giant screen, powerful speakers that could carry sound across the whole area, and a faithful Eiki projector. The generator began to hum 25 meters away, and as the music filled the air, people came pouring in like ants — from every direction.
As the film began to play, a different, almost comical yet precious scene unfolded: our youngest son, only 9 years old, became the local wrestling champion — right next to the Venture! On a patch of grass, he and the children began to play and wrestle. One after the other challenged him, and each time, with just a few simple moves I had taught him, he pinned his opponent. Within minutes, a long line of boys had formed, all eager to take on this strong little blond warrior. His mother, sitting inside the Venture praying, came out from time to time to hand him water between his “matches.”
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Venture, our daughter — about 13 at the time — stood surrounded by local girls, touching and admiring her long blond curls, while she welcomed them with kindness and an open heart.
Our eldest son operated the projector with great care and focus, like a true professional — while I sat in my camping chair, microphone in hand, sharing the gospel message with hundreds of souls.
And then… the miracle happened: that evening, hundreds of people gave their lives to Jesus. Tears. Prayers. Cries for salvation.
It wasn’t just a movie screening — it was a divine appointment. Heaven opened over that little neighbourhood.
Today, years later, I thank the Lord from the depths of my soul for that opportunity. We went out as a simple family — with ropes, pegs, sandwiches, and a film. But God used it to touch and transform hearts.
All glory to Him who uses ordinary people for extraordinary things — to build His Kingdom.
May the Lord, in His grace, also show you ways and open doors, so that you too will find moments to serve Him alongside those dearest to you.
